The babies still don’t have their eyes open yet, but there’s just a hint of a glimmer in one little eye. Some of them have open ears. As soon as the hole in the centre of the ear opens up, the outer ear pops into shape and they begin to look like proper little rats.
The litter now weighs 301 grams, about 25 grams each, but some of the babies are looking a little thin. It’s good that they will be out and trying the soft food in the next day or two. Xia has done a good job of feeding her own twelve and her sister’s three as well.
